Fresh Roots Farm, a 5-acre farm in Polson, MT, produces certified organic vegetables, fruits, and seeds. They received a $3,725 grant to convert their Allis Chalmers G fossil-fuel tractor to 48v electric.
They were able to complete their tractor conversion in May and use it for cultivation throughout the season. Owner Karl Sutton told us, βWe found that the electric ACG tractor reduced hand labor in the lettuce seed crop by about 66%.β They were also able to showcase the tractor at a local farmer gathering, as well as in an article in the Alternative Energy Resources Organization quarterly online magazine.
