We’re preparing for the FruitGuys Community 2017 Grant Cycle. In 2016 we awarded 10 grants to small independent American farms. Grants vary from $2,500 to $5,000, all supporting sustainable agriculture including soil health, water management, biodiversity, pollinator support and pest management. With our small farm grants, The FruitGuys Community Fund makes a big impact.
We Need Volunteers
The number of grant applications increases every year. And that’s where our volunteers come in. We need 30 volunteers to review the 2017 grant applications and attend several meetings to discuss and recommend grantee recipients.
Here are just a few examples of projects we’ve funded helping small farms make a big impact:
- Plant 2 acres of permanent pollinator habitat
- Establish erosion-reducing terracing
- Grow vegetable crops for low-income residents
- Hold workshops on organic and sustainable farming methods
- Purchase manure spreading equipment
- Install solar-powered drip irrigation
- Remediate soil and seed cover crops

We are currently seeking volunteers to help review applications for our upcoming grant season and make award recommendations. The commitment is about 8–10 hours in March 2017 on the following dates and times:
- Wednesday, March 1st, 2017 5:00 – 6:30 PM PST
- Wednesday, March 8th, 2017 5:00 – 6:30 PM PST and,
- Wednesday, March 15th, 2017 5:00 – 6:30PM PST. *
